Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
