Canada's skeleton athletes have been absolved of accusations that they deliberately manipulated a qualifying event for the Winter Olympics, which allegedly denied rival athletes a spot to qualify.

A prominent American athlete Katie Uhlaender alleged the Canadian squad of withdrawing four of its six entered athletes from a race in Lake Placid. The allegation was this shrunk the competition, making a lower points pool available. Despite winning the event, Uhlaender did not secure her qualifying position for the 2026 Olympics.

“Existing federation regulations permit member nations to pull competitors from competition at any time,” declared the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).
